On April 3, 2019 Kelly Wen, Professor of Economics at Pace University, was a guest speaker at the Polish American Business Club. Her presentation “From the Tao to the Now” took the audience through 5000 years of China’s fascinating yet turbulent history and talked about the influence of Taoist principles on the current Chinese medicine, culture, economics and politics.
“Fast forward to today, these Taoist principles that have pervaded all facets of Chinese thought for millennia seems to be lost amidst China’s second rise from a near collapse to a new world order” – says Kelly Wen and adds that one of the most elusive concepts in Chinese philosophy, the Tao, loosely translated as “the Way,” is shapeless and undefined, yet it governs the natural laws of the universe with its dualistic forces of the Yin and Yang.
Kelly Wen is a Professor of Economics at Pace University where she teaches econometrics and the economic development of China. Her teachings explore a broad range of topics including international trade, China’s real estate bubble, as well as current Chinese law and politics. She has been featured on exclusive interviews with ABC, NBC and CNN.
